Greetings! Big_Whisky just wasn't 1337 enough, so I made a minor modification. Adam, Thank you for posting that Mac joke! The way I see it, it illustrates the fissure between Mac and PC users quite clearly. Allow me to explain: If it was a room full of PCs, and the people were PC users, they would be interested in the actual computers sitting in that room. However, because they are Mac users, they could care less about the computers themselves, because they really don't like or care about 'computers' at all. All they really want is their computer to do what they need it to do, and to be least 'computer like' as is possible, while doing it. Therefore, the fact that they are standing in a server room is insignificant, because they are Macs, and they aren't really computers anyway, (they actually are, fine, Unix running machines, it's just the Mac users don't see them as that) thus allowing them to focus more on their everyday problems, like whether or not they look like a beached whale in their frilly pink mu-mu. I think in fact, that woman is representative on some level of most Mac users. So, thank you again Adam, for that wonderful and informative cartoon. B_W_Z |

Need I remind you that NBC spawned the evils of Friends, Joey, the worst of ER (pretty much any episode after the first two seasons when it really became a soap-opera). No my good friend....the stations you need to refer to as "good stations" (non-cable) are Fox and ABC. Fox brought us the glory of X-files (before it became a soap-opera post season 2...hmmm...interesting), Simpsons, Family Guy (before they cancelled it and decided that was a moronic move. It returns May 1st), Arrested Development, and Dark Angel. As for ABC, c'mon...how can you stop singing the praises for a network that got rid of TJ Hooker yet more than a decade later made him a lawyer for Boston Legal and even garnered him a Golden Globe award! Also....let's not forget the other recent programming gems that have made ABC the most watched network....Alias, Lost...highly entertaining well-written shows that NBC couldn't even possible touch during its post-Seinfeld period. | |

It's [penny-arcade] back up. So I am fine now. Fine. Crow, Ok, perhaps a no pants weekend is a bit, well, Xtreme. I am all down, bum-diggity-down, with another such theme, such as 'All-Tank-Wars, Maxiumum Grog' weekend? Or a 'brutal honesty 2k5 dance party weekend with the gyration' weekend? My pants will be optional, however, any way we go, just so you know. And by 'optional' I mean on my head. And by 'on my head' I mean my head will be on the ground and I will be spinning on it. Hmmm? In the vein of brutal honestly... Obviously B_W you were not clear. If you were clear I would have understood you (although I still don't think I do. What time frames do YOU think we're talking about here then?). I'd continue my resentment too but it would be pointless and a waste of energy. That said, if you want to think I'm lying or something, fine. I feel sorry for you. I mean, if you think I would intentionally lie about anything, espically about something as incredlbly stupid as my ability to afford a PC EVER, that's pretty doggone sad. No, I'm not perfect. I don't think that anyone has the right to make you or anyone else speak in some kind of legalese. I don't think doing that kind of thing reflects well upon a person. It's of one of those things where once you are perfect, then talk to me about my flaws B_W. And for the record, yeah, games have come out recently I've wanted to play and to do so I would need a new PC and my theme has been, I can't afford one. That was Half Life 2 and Tribes Vengance, and those came out after I borrowed to buy my last Mac. My theme has been consistant (Shoot I borrowed to buy my last Mac so technically I couldn't afford it either [I do not consider credit as being able to afford something. That's dangerous from what I've seen.]). As was my theme of not being able to watch TV when I'm in my apartment. I admit, I screwed up in that I own a TV set and what I was saying could lead you to beleive I didn't, but I can't currently watch TV content on it. So the best TV reception I have is snow and I still wouldn't have it any other way. Thus, I was and remain consistant about my ability to watch TV here. |

DBBQC, You were saying that you 'couldn't afford a PC', but yet you could afford 2 macs. Which implies that 2 macs cost less than 1 PC. Which they do not. U do the math. You could either have many PCs or the Macs, and you chose the Macs. I was not, nor did I ever, imply anything about your current ability to purchase a PC. Which I think is fairly clear. One of the things I like to do is point out inconsistancies, because people like to do that to myself, which they should, if I lie, say something misleading, or do not make sense. (like implying that Jack Palance is dead, when I have been informed he is not...thank heavens! there is hope out there yet!) So, resent whatever you want, I'm just keeping it 'real', yo. Peter, So they picked their sound designer for the good general eh? How can they do animation without a voice talent, just kinda rough it in? When is the general release date? Still aiming for MAY? They have quite a hard deadline coming up... From what I remember Smithee isn't as much the name of shame, as the name of anonimity. If you aren't proud of something, you pull a Smithee. If you don't want people to know you did something, you pull a Smithee. However, it has to be before you publicaly announce you are working on a project. There was one story about someone annoucing that he was going to work on something, then he wanted to take a Smithee, but they wouldn't let him. I think that's pretty funny. ;) As far as the world of games, WoW might finally be losing it's grip on ole whisky. Or, I am in for the grittiest bout of WoW yet experienced. Either or... B_W |

Speaking of games; as you all know I'm on the cutting edge of gaming, billions of years ahead of the curve (of course, it happens to be that time is cyclical, so it only appears as if I'm stuck decades behind, but trust me, I am ahead) I have taken to playing NationStates (www.nationstates.net). I take it that many of you BBSers will be familiar with the pace of such a game. Basically, you design your own country and then you guide its development depending on the positions you take on issues that are brought before you. I'm currently playing with two: The Disputed Terriroties of Greater Milwaukee happen to be coming along just fine, as a mainly libertarian society should, although I really want something that will help me get a liquor industry going. This is my serious attempt at creating a successful society that one might actually want to live in. Meanwhile, The People's Republic of German Midgets has an imploded economy, but that's okay as apparently human cloning and experimentation is enough to carry it boldly into the future. Plus we have excellent wellfare programs. If you're rich and want to move there, please don't let the 100% tax rate dissuade you; we need your organs. Basically my motto is anything that the far left of the US wants is what goes here. It's a fun game, but a very slow one. |

I have a TV, and I see now I typed "a TV" before and that was misleading, but that wasn't my intent. That was a mistake. I think I usually say "I don't have TV" but I will be more diligent and attempt to use clearer language in the future because it bothers me when mistakes like this happen because it only leads to trouble. B_W, you do not know my finances and I am beginning to resent your implication that just because I have two Macs that somehow means I have money for a PC today. I do not know if you are trying to be funny or what you are gaining from this but I kindly ask that you stop immediately. I am paying off one of my debts this month so some money is being freed for me to look at buying a new PC, hence I am. But I do not know if the shipping charges will preclude me from this yet. A PC, unlike other things, is something I know the general cost of so I know if I can afford it or not. |

GEORGE LUCAS IS TRYING TO MAKE A FOOL OUT OF ME!!!! Not more than 10 minutes go by when I finished writing on the forum that Lucas has not picked a voice actor for Grevious, that a check my email and see that...they have announced the voice actor for Grevious!!! Hope for Sound Editors everywhere! Matthew Wood, Sound Supervisor for the prequel trilogy, has been announced as the voice of Grevious. Wood played a young Bib Fortuna in Episode I. When he gave the audition tape to George, he called himself "Alan Smithee" - The name of shame in Hollywood. George liked it, and Wood has the job! |

| To be honest, B_W...they don't have a finalized voice actor for Grevious! However, to continue working on the animation while they search for vocal talent, they had John DiMaggio (who did the voice for Grevious in the Clone Wars cartoon and voice of Bender in Futurama) record the lines meant to be said by the famed Droid General. Imagine, if they left his dub in...General Grevious might tell Obi-Wan, "Bite my shiny metal @$$%#$!!! | |

DBBQC has a TV set, but it does not have an antenna so all it picks up is snow. Hence, I have no TV and that's the way I like it. Except for Scrubs. I miss Scrubs. But fortuntely there releasing everything on DVD and there are facilities to rent them. So, someday. Read about the kid, missed the part about it being a joke. I thought the final inspreation was from a shower head though? In other news, since there should be mention of gaming in this post, I think I figured out how I can afford to build a new PC. And maybe, just maybe, I'll put Tribes Vengance on it after I pay some of it off. Or I get it for my birthday. |

DBBQC, If you don't own a TV, what do you play your playstation on? A VGA monitor? Enterprize is network, if I am not mistaken...so if you did have a TV, and air, for the airwaves to travel through, you should be able to see it. Crow, Yes, I agree with this 'in-between' fellow, what happened to those graphics and that interface? That was months and months ago, and yes, although school is important, many a fine product was produced whist school was going on. (all the media for JK1-2, all the media I did in college in general, all the parties I threw, went to school, worked 2 jobs simultainous, took 18-21 credits a semester, etc.) Sorry, that excuse won't hold up in this 'court'. ;) Enterprize is going off the air? General Grevious needs only only a few things: 1. to have the grevious grieves, 2. to die very quickly, so that the continuity of the film will be consistant with the timeline of episode IV 3. that his death be very painful, so that I may be satisfied in having someone in the 'textual actual world' of Star Wars experience the same pain these three films have cost me over these years, and 4. his death set off the 'mind bomb', which, through his endless suffering and eternal toil, takes all the memories of the last three episodes with him, so that in the new episode VII his memories are released and Jar Jar is made king of the universe and everyone is happy. (accept me, which would be in the film) Actors that should play general grevious: Robert Loggia, Robert Blake, Micheal Chiklis, a posthumous Jack Palance, Chow Yun Fat, Abe Vagoda, Amerosa, or a white-lighting drunk Peter Placas. DBBC, In reference to your question about General Grevious, yes...at one point he joked about General Grevious as a kid, but only after it was instigated by a sketch from the Art Department. When Lucas asked for a design for General Grevious, he stated that what we wanted was a lanky-skinny alien covered in a robotic exoskeleton, but had deep piercing eyes. What he got were some "loose" interpretations of his demands - Think of Mechs, Escaflowne, or Evangelion. As he was going through the first round he was being very critical of the "Mech" design saying that it was not what he had in mind at all....then he reach Ian McCaig's joke sketch (Ian McCaig is the Art Designer responsibe for making the final design for Darth Maul after having a nightmare about Bozo the Clown). The sketch was similar to all of the Mech designs, except that it was being controlled by a blue-skinned kid with glowing red eyes (This however was not a nod to Thrawn). Lucas took one look at it and joked "Now that's the ultimate face of evil....a little kid!" But after everyone had a laugh at it, Lucas rejected the design . So he never actually considered Grevious to be a kid, that was just a joke based on a sketch. Just a side note...the inspiration for the final approved design of General Grevious actually came from the nozzle of a spray bottle! |

speaking of "go for it", whether or not that was a ROTT reference, I hears that there be Co-op play in the new version of WinROTT. We should back each other up sometime in a room full of Enforcers. I've really enjoyed what I've seen of Enterprise this season, especially the repeated appearances by Brent Spiner and Jeffery Combs. They're finally going around "building the federation", which they should have been doing all along... |

Star Wars at least turns out okay games. I spent SO many hours playing X-Wing and Tie-Fighter. Star Trek... not so much (end obligitory game refrences). So, I'm not sad at all to see Enterprise go. I suppose if I had a TV I might be watching it. But I kinda doubt it. I don't think the idea of Trek is bad, but I do think that the guys who inherited the franchise stink. The fact they let that silly Voyager ep on the air where they went to Warp 10 and Paris and Janeway turned into slugs is... is... I would rather watch Cube 2. AND THAT BUGGER IS LONGER! Shoot, I read that Lucas wanted General Grevious in Episode III to be a little kid but decited that would be a bad idea (Peter do you know more on this?). If I'm right then that means Lucas still can recoginze bad ideas. Hey, N*Sync didn't make it into Episode II so I suppose there may be proof right there. And for the record I'm looking forward to Ep III. I'm REALLY looking forward to not panicing at the Hitchicker's Guide and I'm REALLY looking forward to the Serenity trailer before it and I'm really REALLY looking forward to Serenity and I will likely near explode when I see B5 spinnin' on screen. I don't care who they have playin' Johnny. Bruce should play Johnny though just to get some time away from his wife's beloved, gorram Lifetime Channel. Hmmm. Come to think of it Sci-Fi is in a pretty good state at the moment. Bruce is not. Let that be a lesson to us all, marry Melissa Gilbert, play dinks for all time on the Lifetime Channel. That poor, poor man. Oh and what needs to be done yet Crow for the update to this page? Are we talking graphics or code cause if code I'd be willing to lend a hand. Honestly CUBE 2! That episode was flippin' horriable! ARGH! |
